About Sarah Hagen
I'm Sarah. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, an EMDR and perinatal-certified therapist, and a mom of three — and I came to this work the hard way. After my first baby, I lived through undiagnosed postpartum anxiety that quietly became depression, and I know exactly how it feels to be holding everything together while you're falling apart inside.
That's why I built my practice around mothers. So much of what we carry isn't a personal failing — it's the weight of impossible, unsustainable expectations, plus the old stories we picked up long before we became parents. My job is to help you set some of that down.
I've been licensed in Virginia since 2011 (MSW from VCU, BA from JMU), I'm certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International and in EMDR through EMDRIA, and I'm Internal Family Systems-informed. Underneath all the training, though, my approach is simple: I believe you are the expert on your own life. I'm just here to walk alongside you while you remember it.
We'd be a great match if
- You're a mom who's holding it all together and quietly running on empty
- You want a therapist who is warm and direct — not a blank, nodding wall
- You're ready to get to the root of things, not just cope better
- You want to feel like a person again, not just everyone else’s support system
